CATHEDRAL CLOSURES

VERY OCCASIONALLY ELY CATHEDRAL MAY NEED TO CLOSE ITS DOORS TO VISITORS FOR A SERVICE, EVENT, FILMING OR MAINTENANCE

 

Saturday 1 July

from 4pm onwards: The Cathedral will be closed to visitors due to an Ordination Service.

Thursday 6 July

10am - Midday: The Cathedral will be closed to visitors due to King's Ely Prizegiving Service.
Tower tours will still be available and the Stained Glass Museum will be open from 10.30am.
1.30pm - 3pm: the Lady Chapel will be closed to visitors due to King's Ely Acremont Leavers' Service.

Friday 7 July

10.30am - Midday: The Cathedral will be closed to visitors due to King's Ely End of Term Service.
Tower tours will still be available and the Stained Glass Museum will remain open.

Saturday 8 July

12.30pm - 1.30pm: The Lady Chapel will be closed to visitors due to the Walsingham Cell Mass. All are welcome to join the service.

Monday 17 July

10am - 4pm: Limited visitor access to the Choir and Presbytery due to reheasals for this evening's performance of Richard III.

Tuesday 18 July

9.30am - 4pm: Organ tuning. The Cathedral remains fully open to visitors and tours take place as usual.

Saturday 22 July

1.30pm - 3.30pm: The Choir and Presbytery will be closed to visitors due to a wedding.

Monday 24 July

Midday - 2.30pm: The Choir and Presbytery will be closed to visitors due to a wedding.

We know that people travel long distances to visit Ely Cathedral so we try to minimise periods of closure as much as possible. As soon as we know about a closure the information will be posted here. Please remember to check this page for any last minute changes prior to your visit as some events may have to be arranged at short notice.
