CATHEDRAL CLOSURES

VERY OCCASIONALLY ELY CATHEDRAL MAY NEED TO CLOSE ITS DOORS TO VISITORS FOR A SERVICE, EVENT, FILMING OR MAINTENANCE

 

Wednesday 24 May

Visitors may wish to be aware that 300 school children will be in the Cathedral from 10am to 2.30pm as part of the 'Sing of God and Science' project. They will be singing songs they have written for this and also moving round the cathedral to view items associated with the Science Festival. They will not be visiting the main exhibition in the Lady Chapel.

Saturday 27 May

1.30pm - 4pm: The Presbytery will be closed to visitors due to a wedding.

Thursday 1 June

10am - 11.30am: The Presbytery will be closed to visitors due to a Eucharist for Retired Clergy.

Saturday 3 June

from Midday: the Cathedral will be closed to visitors due to Open University Graduation Ceremonies taking place throughout the day. Visitor access to the Lady Chapel for the Science Festival Exhibition will be via the North Door. Open 10am-4pm.

Saturday 10 June

from 3pm: Cathedral closed to visitors due to the 'Blast off!' Science Exhibition event.

Monday 19 June

Restricted visitor access to the Lady Chapel during the day, while the Science Exhibition is dismantled.

Tuesday 20 June

Organ tuning. The Cathedral remains fully open to visitors and tours take place as usual.

We know that people travel long distances to visit Ely Cathedral so we try to minimise periods of closure as much as possible. As soon as we know about a closure the information will be posted here. Please remember to check this page for any last minute changes prior to your visit as some events may have to be arranged at short notice.
