Virtual Christingle
Ely Cathedral Learning are looking forward to welcoming schools back to the annual virtual Christingle on Tuesday 16 December.
We started our online Christingle service out of necessity in 2020, but we have so enjoyed being able to engage with so many schools across and beyond the Diocese that it has become an annual tradition. On this page you'll find everything you need to join in as well as resources to help you explore Christingles with the children in your school.
Virtual Christingle
Tuesday 16 December 1.30pm - 2pm.
Where to find us
The service will be live streamed on our YouTube channel
What will you be doing?
You'll be able to prepare for the service in your own classroom. On this page you will find a range of resources to help your pupils understand the meaning of the Christingle in more detail as well as making their own ready for the service. The Children's Society provide an excellent set of free Christingle making resources.
You'll then be able to join the service in the afternoon via YouTube. The service will last approximately 30 minutes and will include prayers, hymns and a living exploration of the Christingle. We would love to receive pictures of your pupils enjoying the service and learning about Christingle if you are able to share them with us.
How do I join in?
Please register your school's participation by emailing learning@elycathedral.org. You'll be able to download the orders of service from this page during the week before the event.
We don't charge for access to the service or any of the resources but we would encourage schools to mark their participation in the event by donating to The Children's Society.
