Monday - Saturday: 10am - 4pm

Sunday: Noon - 3pm

Changes to Visitor Opening Hours

Occasionally we need to close our doors to visitors for a private service, event, filming or maintenance; or restrict access to certain parts of the Cathedral. We are aware people travel long distances to visit so we try to minimise periods of closure. As soon as we know about a closure the information is posted below. Please check this page for any last minute changes prior to your visit as some events have to be arranged at short notice.

** The Almonry Restaurant is closed for refurbishment from 3 March for approximately 4 weeks **

March

Thursday 27 March
1pm – 4pm: The South Transept will be busier than usual due to school concert rehearsals.

Friday 28 March
Visitor entry is 10am – 2pm (last entry 1pm) due to a school service. The Stained Glass Museum is open until 4pm (last entry 3.30pm).

Saturday 29 March
1pm – 4pm: The Octagon area will be busier than usual with rehearsals for The Verdi Requiem. Some visitor access and views will be restricted.

April

Tuesday 1 April
12.45pm – 1.45pm
: No visitor access to the Presbytery due to a Lent Organ Meditation. All are welcome to join the service.

Wednesday 2 April
1.15pm – 3pm
: No visitor access to the East End and Presbytery due to a memorial service.
2.45pm – 4pm
: No visitor access to the Lady Chapel due to a private event.

Thursday 3 April
10am – 11am
No visitor access to the Lady Chapel due to a children’s service.
1.15pm – 3pm
: No visitor access to the East End & Presbytery due to a funeral.
3pm – 4pm
: No visitor access to the Lady Chapel due to a private event.

Friday 4 April
1pm – 4pm
: The Octagon area will be busier than usual due to rehearsals for The Princess Proms. Some visitor access and views may be limited.

Saturday 5 April
1pm – 4pm
: The Octagon area will be busier than usual due to rehearsals for Music from the Movies by Candlelight. Some visitor access and views may be limited.

Tuesday 8 April
12.45pm – 1.45pm
: No visitor access to the Presbytery due to a Lent Organ Meditation. All are welcome to join the service.

Friday 11 April
10am – 4pm
: Organ tuning. Please note this involves loud and repetitive noise.

Saturday 12 April
1pm – 4pm
: The Lady Chapel will be busier than usual due to rehearsals for North Sea Voices.

Tuesday 15 April
12.45pm – 1.45pm
: No visitor access to the Presbytery due to a Lent Organ Meditation. All are welcome to join the service.

Thursday 17 April – Maundy Thursday
Visitor entry is 12.15pm – 4.30pm
, due to a Diocesan service. The Stained Glass Museum is open as usual from 10am.

Friday 18 April – Good Friday
Please note today is one of the most solemn days in the Christian Church. All are welcome to join our services at 10am, 12 noon and 5.30pm. No visitor tickets or tours are available. The Cathedral shop and the Stained Glass Museum are also closed today.

Sunday 20 April – Easter Day
Visitor entry is 12 noon – 2.30pm

: No visitor access to the Presbytery due to a lunchtime concert. All visitors are welcome to attend the concert.

Friday 23 May
Visitor opening is 9.30am – 1.15pm (last entry 12.15pm) due to a school prizegiving.
The Stained Glass Museum will be open until 5pm (last entry 4.30pm)
