Monday - Saturday: 10am - 4pm
Sunday: Noon - 3pm
Changes to Visitor Opening Hours
Occasionally we need to close our doors to visitors for a private service, event, filming or maintenance; or restrict access to certain parts of the Cathedral. We are aware people travel long distances to visit so we try to minimise periods of closure. As soon as we know about a closure the information is posted below. Please check this page for any last minute changes prior to your visit as some events have to be arranged at short notice.
February
Friday 14 February
1pm – 4pm: The Octagon area will be busier than usual due to rehearsals for Rachmaninov 2nd Piano Concerto by Candlelight.
Thursday 20 February
1pm – 2pm: No visitor access to the Presbytery due to a lunchtime concert from Hazel & Hugh Keelan. Visitors are welcome to attend the concert.
Saturday 22 February
1pm – 4pm: The Octagon area will be busier than usual due to rehearsals for Ben Portsmouth: This is Elvis. Sound checks and music will be very loud and visitor access and views may be limited.
Thursday 27 February
1pm – 2pm: No visitor access to the Lady Chapel due to a lunchtime concert from Bruton Parish Church Choir. Visitors are welcome to attend the concert.
March
Sunday 2 March
Visitor entry is 12 noon – 2.30pm, due to choir rehearsals from 2.30pm
Wednesday 5 March
11.45am – 1pm: No visitor access to the Presbytery due to an Ash Wednesday Holy Communion service. All are welcome to join the service.
Thursday 6 March
1pm – 2pm: No visitor access to the Presbytery due to a lunchtime concert by Catelina. Visitors are welcome to attend the concert.
Wednesday 12 March
10am – 12 noon: Visitor access in the Octagon area will be limited due to a schools’ event.
Thursday 13 March
1pm – 2pm: No visitor access to the Presbytery due to a lunchtime concert by King’s Ely. Visitors are welcome to attend the concert.
Friday 14 March
10am – 4pm: Organ tuning. Please note this involves loud and repetitive noise.
Saturday 15 March
1pm – 4pm: The Octagon area will be busier than usual due to rehearsals for A Sea Symphony
Monday 17 March
10am-4pm: The Lady Chapel will be busier than usual while an exhibition is taken down.
Thursday 20 March
1pm – 2pm: No visitor access to the Presbytery due to a lunchtime concert by Christopher Seed. Visitors are welcome to attend the concert.
Friday 21 March
No visitor access, due to a schools’ event. The Stained Glass Museum is open as usual from 10am.
Saturday 22 March
Visitor entry is 12 noon – 4pm, due to a confirmation service. The Stained Glass Museum is open as usual from 10am.
1pm – 4pm: The Octagon area will be busier than usual due to rehearsals for Come and Sing Stainer Crucifixion.
Tuesday 25 March
11.45am - 1pm: No visitor access to the Lady Chapel due to a service of Holy Communion. All are welcome to join the service.
Thursday 27 March
1pm – 4pm: The South Transept will be busier than usual due to school concert rehearsals.
Friday 28 March
Visitor entry is 10am – 2pm (last entry 1pm) due to a school service. The Stained Glass Museum is open until 4pm (last entry 3.30pm).
Saturday 29 March
1pm – 4pm: The Octagon area will be busier than usual with rehearsals for The Verdi Requiem. Some visitor access and views will be restricted.
