Monday - Saturday: 9.30am - 4.30pm
Sunday: Noon - 3pm
Changes to Visitor Opening Hours
Occasionally we need to close to visitors for a private service, event, filming or maintenance; or restrict access to certain parts of the Cathedral. We are aware people travel long distances to visit so we try to minimise periods of closure. As soon as we know about a closure the information is posted below. Please check this page for any last minute changes prior to your visit as some events have to be arranged at short notice.

Thursday 1 May
10am – 11am: No visitor access to the Lady Chapel due to a children’s service.
Saturday 3 May
1pm – 4pm: The Octagon area will be busier than usual with rehearsals for Ely Sinfonia - Shostakovich and Tchaikovsky. Some visitor access and views may be limited.
Sunday 4 May
2.30pm – 3.30pm: Visitor access in the Octagon area will be limited due to choir rehearsals.
Wednesday 7 May
All day: The Cathedral will be busier than usual due to set up for Threads Through the Bible exhibition.
Thursday 8 May
All day: The Cathedral will be busier than usual due to set up for Threads Through the Bible exhibition.
10am – 11am: No visitor access to the Lady Chapel due to a children’s service.
Friday 9 May
1pm – 4pm: The Octagon area will be busier than usual with rehearsals and sound checks for The Music of U2 by Candlelight. Some visitor views and access will be limited.
Saturday 10 May
1pm – 4pm: The Octagon area will be busier than usual with rehearsals and sound checks for Country by Candlelight. Some visitor views and access will be limited.
Tuesday 13 May
10am – 4pm: Organ tuning. Please note this involves loud and repetitive noise.
12 noon – 5pm: No visitor access to the Lady Chapel due to set up for a private event.
Thursday 15 May
10am – 11am: No visitor access to the Lady Chapel due to a children’s service.

1pm – 4pm: The Octagon area will be busier than usual with rehearsals and sound checks for Interstellar. Some visitor views and access will be limited.

10am – 11am: No visitor access to the Lady Chapel due to a children’s service.
1pm – 2pm: No visitor access to the Presbytery due to a lunchtime concert. All visitors are welcome to attend the concert.
Friday 23 May
Visitor opening is 9.30am – 1.15pm (last entry 12.15pm) due to a school prizegiving.
The Stained Glass Museum will be open until 5pm (last entry 4.30pm)

10:45am – 12.30pm: No visitor access to the East End and Presbytery due to a wedding.

Visitor entry 12 noon – 2.30pm, due to choir rehearsals from 3pm.
1pm – 2pm: No visitor access to the Presbytery due to a cello recital. All visitors are welcome to listen to the recital.
Monday 2 June
Visitor entry is 12.30pm – 4.30pm, due to a schools’ event.
The Stained Glass Museum opens as usual at 10am. The Cathedral shop is open 12.30pm - 4.30pm.
Tuesday 3 June
1.30pm – 4.30pm: The Cathedral will be busier than usual with graduation rehearsals.
Wednesday 4 June
9.30am – 12.30pm: The Cathedral will be busier than usual with graduation rehearsals.
