Andrew Liu
Graduate Organ Scholar
Andrew Liu MM BA FRCO is currently Graduate Organ Scholar at Ely Cathedral and King's Ely. He has previously held positions at Tewkesbury Abbey, Dean Close School (Cheltenham, UK), and St. Peter's Episcopal Church (Milford, CT, USA).
He read music at Hertford College, University of Oxford, where he was Organ Scholar and graduated with First Class Honours. He went on to complete a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting at Yale University under Jeffery Douma and David Hill, while also studying organ with James O'Donnell and Noah Klein. His other principal teachers in the past include Simon Bell, Phil Scriven, Richard Pinel, and Wendy Yuen. As an organist, Liu has given organ recitals across Europe, North America, and Asia, and is an active collaborative performer.
As a conductor, he has appeared with ensembles such as the Danish National Vocal Ensemble and the Yale Glee Club. He is also a keen flautist, having been principal flautist in the Oxford University Orchestra and Oxford University Sinfonietta, and has given multiple recitals in both the UK and Hong Kong.
