Multi-Media Digital Guides

In addition to our popular free in person tours led by our team of volunteer guides, we also offer state-of-the-art Digital Guides, allowing you to experience a self guided tour of Ely Cathedral at your own pace. These new devices are included in the admission price and are available from the Ticket Office.

These multi-media guides offer a choice of tours including the full Main Tour, a shorter Highlight Tour and a Family Tour featuring lots of child friendly content and an introduction to Ember the Dragon.

Members of the Visits Team will be on hand to show you how to use your Digital Guide and answer any questions. As a working Cathedral, on occasions some areas may not be accessible or open to visitors due to services, events or maintenance.

Please Note: There is a £5 charge for the use of handsets for adult pass holders or any adults entitled to free entry. There is no charge for children using the hand held devices providing they are accompanied by a paying adult.

The Main Tour

• Available in 6 languages: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Polish.
• Available in British Sign Language (BSL) and as an Audio Descriptive Tour
• High resolution touch screens filled with interactive content and audio descriptions, provide a fascinating and detailed tour of Ely Cathedral.
• Behind-the-scenes videos of areas not usually open to the public.
• Interviews with clergy, staff and volunteers involved in daily life at Ely Cathedral.

The Family Tour

• Featuring Ember the Dragon who will guide you and your family around the building and introduce you to all her Cathedral friends.
• High resolution images with fun activities and interactive games.
• This tour is aimed at children aged between 7-11.
• Available in English.
