James Green
I have lived in Ely since 2015 with my wife, and we are now raising our young family here. As a Chartered Accountant (ACA), I trained with an accountancy practice in the wider Cambridgeshire area before moving to a Top 30 firm based locally, where I specialised in audit and became an Audit Manager. During this time, I worked with a number of charities across the region, including Ely Cathedral, gaining valuable experience in charity governance, financial management and regulatory compliance. In 2024, I moved into industry and now work as a group reporting accountant for a group of fruit marketing companies, with operations around the world.
My professional background has given me strong financial, accounting and governance skills, which I hope will be valuable in supporting the Friends. Having seen first-hand the important role Ely Cathedral plays in the life of our city, I was keen to join the Friends and contribute to preserving and supporting this remarkable building for future generations. I am delighted to serve on the Friends Council and to play a small part in supporting an institution that means so much to Ely and its community.
