WOULD YOUR CHOIR LIKE TO SING AT ELY CATHEDRAL..?
Every year the Dean and Chapter invites choirs to sing choral services at Ely Cathedral while the Cathedral Choirs are away on holiday or on tour.
Visiting choirs are required:
- to be of a high standard (demonstrable by a recent recording),
- familiar with the liturgy of the Church of England,
- experienced in singing the Cathedral repertoire.
Visiting choirs are given the opportunity to give concerts in the Cathedral or the celebrated Lady Chapel (subject to the Cathedral's diary)
Choirs wishing to sing for a whole week or just for one service are encouraged to apply, although during July and August preference is given in the first instance to choirs offering a whole week's residency.
If you have not visited Ely in the last five years, when making your enquiry we ask you to supply a recent recording of your choir taken live at a service, and including psalmody and responses. If this impossible, a reference from another Cathedral or similar institution where your choir has sung in the last five years is an acceptable alternative.
Our online calendar (see link below) lists dates currently available for visiting choirs. We are currently accepting applications for visits until August 2018. Visiting choirs may apply to sing on dates which are blank, or marked "Click for more information". We make every effort to keep this list up to date, but please confirm availability with us before making any plans for a visit to Ely.
