Ely Cathedral

The beautiful city of Ely is a perfect one day or short break destination.

In addition to the magnificent Cathedral, acknowledged as one of the wonders of the mediaeval world, Ely offers many other attractions, sights and experiences.

There is plenty to see and do in the historic city and surrounding area, whether you are here just for one day or stay for a long weekend. One of the smallest cathedral cities in England, Ely is easy to explore on foot. Highlights include Oliver Cromwell's House, Ely Museum and the attractive waterside with its antique centre, art gallery, cafes and walks.

The city centre boasts regular weekly markets on Thursdays and Saturdays, including farmers and craft and collectables markets.

A little further afield, you will find Wicken Fen and Welney Wetland Centre, which offer a real taste of the great natural fen landscape and its wildlife. The Farmland Museum at Denny Abbey and Prickwillow Drainage Museum will take you back into the area's past.
