The Order of St Etheldreda

The Order of St Etheldreda is an opportunity for our most generous supporters to work together with the Cathedral to achieve mutual goals of prosperity and success.

Named after the Saxon princess who founded the original seventh-century monastery on the Isle of Ely, the site of the present Cathedral, the Order of St Etheldreda was launched in 1992 to raise funds under the patronage of the late HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

Thanks to this generosity and commitment, Ely Cathedral is now in the best shape it has been for 100 years but the work of maintaining our glorious choral tradition and historic building is never complete.

Order Members are invited to a programme of exclusive events that include the coveted annual Order Dinner, receive free admission to the Cathedral and Stained Glass Museum, and priority booking to popular Cathedral events and services.

Order membership starts at £500 a year, which can be paid monthly or annually, by Direct Debit, cheque, or card. If you are a UK taxpayer you can increase the value of your contribution at no cost to yourself through Gift Aid.
