Ely Cathedral

'Its purpose is to be specially concerned with all that strengthens and preserves marriage and Christian family life. As an Anglican-led worldwide organisation, they have more than 3.6 million members in 76 countries.'

In the Diocese of Ely we actively seek to provide support and care for families, both in local communities and through our links around the world. Through our work people can experience the love of Christ, and discover or develop a personal relationship with God.

Caring for families in this diocese involves us in, for instance:

  • Running Parenting groups,
  • Providing holidays for stressed families
  • Cambridge and Ely Child Contact Centres
  • Visitors' Centres at Littlehey Prison
  • Cambridge Women's Aid and Huntingdon Refuge, Provide Parent and Child marquees at local county shows
  • Knitting and sewing projects for hospital baby units
  • Continuing to promote the 'Bye Buy Childhood' Campaign

Through prayer and fellowship we in the diocese support members in five linked dioceses - Lusaka in Zambia, Shyogwe in Rwannda, Sokoto and Ikka in Nigeria and Karimnagar in India. As well as continuing the link with Kigali Diocese (Rwanda) through the main Ely diocesan link

The Mothers' Union Prayer

Loving Lord,
We thank you for your love so freely given to us all.
We pray for families around the world.
Bless the work of the Mothers' Union as we seek to share your love through the encouragement,
strengthening and support of marriage and family life.
Empowered by your Spirit, may we be united in prayer and worship,
and in love and service reach out as your hands across the world.
In Jesus' name. Amen
