Monday - Saturday: 9.30am - 4.30pm

Sunday: Noon - 3pm

Changes to Visitor Opening Hours
Very occasionally we need to close our doors to visitors for a private service, event, filming or maintenance; or restrict access to certain parts of the Cathedral. We are aware people travel long distances to visit Ely Cathedral so we try to minimise periods of closure as much as possible.

As soon as we know about a closure the information will be posted below. Please remember to check this page for any last minute changes prior to your visit as some events may have to be arranged at short notice.

Tuesday 23 - Friday 26 April
Please note the Cathedral will be busier than usual at times with set up for the 'Am I My Brother’s Keeper' - Exhibition by Sean Henry. Some visitor views and access may be limited.

Sunday 28th April
2pm – 3.30pm: The Cathedral will be busier than usual due to choir rehearsals. Some visitor access and views will be limited.

Thursday 2nd May
1.15pm – 3pm: No visitor access to the East End and Presbytery due to a funeral.
3pm – 5pm: No visitor access to the Lady Chapel due to a private event.

Friday 3 May
1.15pm - 3pm: No visitor access to the East End and Presbytery due to a confirmation service.

Saturday 4 May
1pm - 4pm: The Octagon area will be busier than usual with rehearsals for the Ely Sinfonia Concert Some visitor access and views will be limited.

Tuesday 7 May
Visitor access is 9.30am - 2.45pm, with last entry at 1.45pm, due to a memorial service.

Wednesday 8 May
12 noon - 5pm: The Lady Chapel will be busier than usual due to set up for an evening event. Some visitor access and views will be limited.

Thursday 9 May
Visitor access is from 9.45am today, due to a school service.

Saturday 11 May
Visitor access is 9.30am – 4.30pm, with last entry at 3.30pm, as evensong is at 5pm. All are welcome to join the service.
9.30am - 12 noon: No visitor access to the Lady Chapel due to a service.
1pm - 4.30pm: The Octagon area will be busier than usual with choir rehearsals. Some visitor access and views will be limited.
3.30pm - 5pm: The Lady Chapel will be closed to visitors due to a private event.

Tuesday 14 May
10am - 12.30pm: No visitor access to the Presbytery and Lady Chapel due to a private event.

Wednesday 15 May
12 noon – 5pm: The Lady Chapel will be busier than usual due to set up for an evening event. Some visitor access and views will be limited.

Thursday 16 May
2pm - 4.30pm: The Octagon area will be busier than usual due to rehearsals for Tina Turner by Candlelight Some visitor access and views will be limited. Please note this will involve loud sound checks.

Friday 17 May
2pm - 4.30pm: The Octagon area will be busier than usual due to rehearsals for Tina Turner by Candlelight Some visitor access and views will be limited. Please note this will involve loud sound checks.

Visitor access is from 9.45am today due to a school service.

Thursday 23 May
9.30am - 4pm: Organ tuning. Please note this involves loud and repetitive sounds.

Friday 24 May
Visitor access is 9.30am - 1.30pm, with last entry at 12.30pm, due to a school prize-giving service.

Saturday 25 May
10.15am - 12 noon: No visitor access to the East End and Presbytery due to a wedding.
1.15pm - 3pm: No visitor access to the East End and Presbytery due to a wedding.

Sunday 26 May
1pm - 2.30pm: No visitor access to the Lady Chapel due to a private lunch.

Tuesday 28 May
2pm - 4pm: The Cathedral will be busier than usual due to school graduation rehearsals. Some visitor access and views may be limited.

Wednesday 29 May
9.30am - 11.30am: The Cathedral will be busier than usual due to school graduation rehearsals. Some visitor access and views may be limited.
4pm - 5pm: No visitor access to the Lady Chapel due to a family service.

Thursday 30 May
9.45am - 12 noon: No visitor access to the East End and Presbytery due to a service.
10.30am - 1pm: No visitor access to the Lady Chapel due to a private event.

Friday 31 May
11.45am - 12.45pm: No visitor access to the Lady Chapel due to a service of Holy Communion. All are welcome to join the service.
