Because of the coronavirus, Ely Cathedral was forced to lock its doors between 18 March and 3 July 2020.

It was the first time in more than three hundred and fifty years that the Cathedral had been closed to worshippers. During this strange season of isolation and anxiety, Canon Jessica Martin wrote a regular series of reflections for the website - first daily and then, as lockdown went on and on, spaced further apart.

Gradually they reached beyond the Ely congregation, until they were being read as a source of comfort and spiritual inspiration as far away as Australia and Texas. 'You spoke our thoughts,' was one appreciative comment.

Following many requests, the complete series of the reflections gathered into one place is available to read here
