A STATEMENT FROM THE VERY REVD MARK BONNEY, DEAN OF ELY, REGARDING WILLIAM SCOTT FARRELL

(William) Scott Farrell appeared in court in Cambridge yesterday, 28 May, and pleaded guilty to a number of sexual offences. Some of these offences were committed while he was employed at Ely Cathedral as Assistant Organist between 1999 and 2002. The Cathedral has been cooperating fully with the Police and statutory authorities throughout their investigations. A sentencing date is expected to be set in due course.

Naturally our thoughts and prayers are with all of those who have been affected by this news. This is a deeply upsetting situation for all concerned especially the victims and survivors and their families. We recognise the bravery of those who have come forward and acknowledge how difficult and distressing this has been for them.
