Thousands of shoppers are expected to descend on Ely Cathedral this week as the annual Christmas Gift & Food Fair gets underway. Now in its 5th successive year, the Cathedral will play host to over 150 bespoke traders including 30 new stalls and a much extended food hall to manage the ever growing popularity of this event. Last year the fair attracted over 15000 visitors and is already proving to be one of East Anglia's most popular Christmas shopping experiences.

The Festive Food Hall itself is a gastronomic delight with an emphasis on good quality, regional produce. There are over 40 specialists including cheesemongers, chocolatiers, patisseries, delicatessens of specialists oils, vinegars and preserves, distillers of gin, vodka & cider and butchers of locally produced meat products and charcuterie.

The beautiful vintage carousel will make a welcome return to transport visitors, young and old, into the magical world of a traditional fairground, while the live reindeer and Christmas elves will be providing plenty of entertainment for children and families.

For the duration of the Fair there will be a dedicated Park & Ride facility to help ease congestion in the city centre and its car parks. The Park & Ride service will operate from a site on the outskirts of Ely with buses leaving every 15 minutes to drop off and pick up right outside the main door of the Cathedral.

The event runs from 18 to 19 November with a special preview shoppers evening on Thursday 17 November. Due to the popularity it is advised to buy your tickets in advance as only a limited number of tickets will be available to purchase on the day.
