With the full backing of the Church of England, Ely Cathedral have today launch a global social media media campaign called #ChristmasAtEly.

Over the next twelve days the Cathedral will be releasing especially produced video footage of their Choirs performing Christmas carols. These music videos are interspersed with fascinating interviews with key people associated with the Cathedral including the Bishop of Ely, and some of the boy choristers who are experiencing their first Christmas away from home to sing in Christmas day services at the Cathedral.

The clips are free to watch and are expected to have a global reach. They will be shared widely on our Facebook and Twitter pages as well as distributed via the Church of England, the BBC and commercial radio social media sites. The videos can accessed directly via the Cathedral's YouTube channel which can be found at

This campaign is part of a co-ordinated strategy that is taking place across the Church of England called #JoyToTheWorld. It not only seeks to promote the good news that is Christmas, but it also aims to encourage people to go and visit a church or attend a service in a church near them over the festive period.

There are several services and events taking place at Ely Cathedral throughout December all within sight of the spectacularly huge Christmas tree. Everyone is invited and will be welcomed regardless of faith or none.
