Behind the scenes of making #aChristmasMiracle

The Diocese of Ely and Ely Cathedral have been amazed by the success of their 2018 social media campaign to mark Advent and Christmas. #aChristmasMiracle was launched on Advent Sunday and within the first 72 hours had reached over 300,000 with 7500 shares and is well placed to outperform similar Christian Christmas campaigns nationwide.

The campaign was kick offed using a captivating and beautifully presented lead film telling the story of the original Christmas miracle. The footage features many familiar faces and voices including The Rt Revd Dr Rowan Williams, former Archbishop of Canterbury, BBC personality and Member of the Church of England's General Synod, The Revd Sally Hitchiner and The Rt Revd Stephen Conway, Bishop of Ely. However the stars of the opening film are without doubt the many children and volunteers from across the Diocese who kindly participated in helping tell this significant story. You can watch the lead film here or by following this link

The campaign will run until Christmas Eve and each day will feature a series of thought provoking interviews exploring the story of Advent and Christmas interspersed with videos of seasonal music performed by the Ely Cathedral Choirs and the Gesualdo Six. #aChristmasMiracle campaign has already been picked up by Classic FM who will be sharing the music via their social media channels.

The team from the Cathedral and Diocese who coordinated these films add: "Our hope is that by producing what we believe are inspiring and engaging short films about this special time of year, we will encourage people to seek out a church or cathedral service near them this year and take part in one of the many special events taking part near them this season."

You can watch all of the films as they're released throughout December here and on the Cathedral and Diocese Facebook and Twitter pages, as well as on the Cathedral YouTube channel here -
