Christmas Fun at Ely Cathedral
We have lots going on throughout November and December for everyone to enjoy, from feasting with Henry VIII to exploring the Nativity story through our new trail.
Christmas with Henry VIII
Christmas with Henry VIII
Join Henry and his court to discover more about Christmas and Advent during his reign on Saturday 30th November between 11am and 1pm.
Where will you be?
You'll find Henry and his court in the Lady Chapel between 11am and 1pm on 30th November. Come through the West Door and someone will be able to direct you from there.
What will you be doing?
You'll be able to meet King Henry VIII and his court informally (well, as informally as you can meet a king!) between 11am and 1pm. The king will be giving presentations about Advent and Christmas, as well as choosing a Lord of Misrule, at 11.30am and 12.30pm. There will be activities for everyone to enjoy including making your own clove studded orange pomander, creating marchpane fancies and tudor roses.
How do I join in?
Just come along to the Cathedral between 11am and 1pm on 30th November. There is no need to pre-book this event and it is free with standard entry (don't forget to bring proof of address if you have a CB6/7 postcode so that you can enter for free). We are happy to provide a range of craft activities for children young and old at no extra cost, though a suggested donation of £3 would be much appreciated. Please note that we will have a photographer with us for this event. If you do not wish to be included in the photographs please let a member of staff know and we will ask the photographer to ensure that you are not in any shots.
Christmas Dress Up Day
Join Ely Cathedral Learning team for dressing up and Christmas crafts on 23rd December between 10.00am and 12.00pm.
Where will you be?
You'll find us in the Lady Chapel with Christmas crafts on 23rd December.

In the Lady Chapel we'll have lots of different Christmas crafts for you to have a go at, as well as toys for our youngest visitors. Supporting booklets for the trail will be available from the ticket office, you'll be able to take these away with you too. Large print versions of the booklet will also be available on request. The trail will be available between Friday 20th December and Sunday 5th January during visitor opening times.
