SUMMER HOLIDAY STORY TELLING SESSIONS

Pilgrims visiting St Etheldreda's Shrine after 1253

Wednesday 5 August 11am | The Almonry Garden | The Story of St Etheldreda.
Find out more about the patron saint of Ely in this costumed story telling session. Children will find out who Etheldreda was as a princess, queen, nun and saint.

Wednesday 12 August 11am and 2.30pm | The Almonry Garden | Vikings!
Find out what happened to Etheldreda's Monastery when the Vikings arrived in Ely in this costumed story telling session. Children will find out about how the Viking's invaded Ely and what happened to the monastery and its inhabitants when they did, including what happened to a greedy Viking who tried to rob the tomb of St Etheldreda!

All children will be given a takeaway bag of related craft activities at the end of the session so that they can continue to explore the story at home.

Wednesday 19 August 11am and 2.30pm | The Almonry Garden | Queen Philippa Arrives.
​Find out what happens when royalty visits the monastery in Ely to see how the work on the Octagon Tower is progressing as Queen Philippa visits Prior Crauden in this costumed story telling session. She is particular keen to find out more about the peregrine falcons, since her son has recently developed an interest in birds of prey.

All children will be given a takeaway bag of related craft activities at the end of the session so that they can continue to explore the story at home.

Suitable for primary aged children.
Each session will last up to 30 minutes.
Tickets - £3 per place must be pre-booked. Limited numbers.
Parent/Guardian - No charge for 1 accompanying adult. Please no more than one adult per child to ensure that we can maintain social distancing.
