Ely boasts one of the largest collections of medieval monastic buildings still in daily use.
Join on this outdoor tour to discover the history of the collection of buildings and the incredible stories they tell.
You will find the site of the monk’s hospital, the bloodletting hall and a chance to appreciate the size, layout and scale of precinct; learning how buildings were developed and extended from the earliest parts c 1150 up to the end of the 1300.
The tour includes a visit to Prior Crauden’s Chapel - a very rare, incredible survival of a private chapel with beautiful 14th century architecture.
Dates & Times: Tuesday 15 July 12.30pm & 2pm, Wednesday 16 July 2pm, Saturday 19 July 2pm & Sunday 20 July 2pm.
Please meet at the South Door, 10 minutes prior to the tour start time.
Additional Information: Please note that this tour is largely external, so please do dress for the weather. The tour requires a reasonable level of mobility as it includes walking, periods of standing and uneven surfaces. Please note this includes climbing 17 spiral, stone steps (with lighting but no handrail).
