North Sea Voices and Orchestra, with Ely Collegium

Following last April’s triumphant première of her Sea Requiem, Dr. Susannah Self conducts a major new choral work, Stabat Mater, based on two medieval poems. Paired with Vivaldi’s ever-popular Gloria in D, and a new piece for horn and chamber ensemble, the Stabat Mater promises to be every bit as charismatic and moving as the Sea Requiem, which received a glowing review in Musical Opinion.

The Gloria in D features Vivaldi’s typical energetic rhythms, beautiful solos and duets and stirring choruses.

Entry: free, with retiring collection, but please reserve a place via the booking link on this page.
The retiring collection will go towards SANDS (a charity working to support parents suffering stillbirth and neonatal bereavement).

Sea Requiem was a substantial score, yet the material flowed naturally… the extended silence which followed this conclusion…. was a tribute to the audience’s rapt concentration and the cumulative effect of Susannah Self’s fervent, directly expressive music.” — Paul Conway, Musical Opinion 2023
