ELGAR'S 'THE KINGDOM' WITH CUSC AND LEEDS PHILHARMONIC CHORUS

Mary Bevan

30 November 2019 7:30pm

Cambridge University Symphony Chorus is joining forces with Leeds Philharmonic Chorus under conductor David Hill for a rare performance of Elgar's spectacular oratorio, The Kingdom. Following on from The Apostles, it depicts the community of the early church, Pentecost and the events of the next few days.

Many Elgar aficionados, including the great Sir Adrian Boult, consider it to be his greatest choral work, of more consistent quality even than The Dream of Gerontius.

With a chorus of over 200 singers, top-class soloists and a professional orchestra under the expert guidance of St John's College Choir former director David Hill, this performance in one of the finest concert venues in the country is not to be missed.
