The Ouse Life group are delighted to present their third exhibition at Ely Cathedral - After the Fall.

On this occasion they address notions around the collapse of the central tower in 1322 which led to the creation of the extraordinary and unique Octagon.

They explore the beauty of the building, the means of making it, the lives of the people who constructed, maintained, rebuilt and inhabited it over the next 700 years .

Eighteen artists have spent the challenging time of Covid imagining and creating over 100 works. Painting, sculpture, installations, textile art, ceramics, collage and even music are all represented in a dazzling array of styles and media. Over 100 artworks will be on display, executed in a variety of media and sizes by 18 artists.

This new body of work, that they are thrilled to bring to the Cathedral, commemorates the 700th anniversary of the original central tower's collapse when foundation work for the Lady Chapel caused subsidence.

*Please check our opening hours page for any changes to exhibition times.
