In November 1539, the monastery at Ely was dissolved. Centuries of prayer and tradition were disrupted and destroyed. We mark this event this year, the 480th since the dissolution, with a Latin Vespers followed by a lecture from Professor Eamon Duffy.

Vespers sung by the choir of the Roman Catholic church of Our Lady and the English Martyrs, Cambridge, directed by Nigel Kerry, with music by Christopher Tye, Magister Choristarum (Master of the Choristers) at Ely from 1543.

Officiant: Monsignor Mark Langham, Chaplain of Fisher House, Cambridge.
