'Visions of a Future Church'

Our Summer Lectures series should be of interest to everyone who cares for the life of the church and it's future.

What will the church of the future look like? Do changing times call for a new vision of what the church might be and do? Ely Cathedral provides a space to explore the kind of church God might be calling us to become in a context of rapid cultural and ecclesial change. We are delighted to welcome leading thinkers and practitioners from around the country who will offer us their visions of a future church.

The Series begins with The Etheldreda Lecture, always given by a prominent woman of faith. We are honoured to welcome Professor Grace Davie to Ely Cathedral. Grace is professor emeritus in the Sociology of Religion at the University of Exeter, senior adviser to the Impact of Religion Research Programme at Uppsala University and a past-president of the American Association for the Sociology of Religion. Her seminal book 'Religion in Britain since 1945' continues to be a touchstone text in the study of faith, Christianity and the church. The Lecture series continues with visions of worship, mission, the common good, Anglican theology and ministry.

All are welcome. Free entry.
