Later this year the Luftwaffe is honouring the lost crew of Wellington R3236, which was shot down over Northern Germany on Sunday 7 July 1940.

A memorial tablet has been commissioned by the crew-families which will be dedicated at the Bomber Command Memorial in Ely Cathedral on 24 April. All five, lost crew members are listed in the Group 3 Volume of the RAF Roll of Honour, housed in Ely Cathedral. A total of over 19,000 names are entered there in the four volumes.

Prior to being shipped to Germany in early June for installation at Jever Air Base, Lower Saxony, the stone will be displayed at a number of locations around England and Scotland. It will be on display in Ely Cathedral from Friday 22 April until Wednesday 27 April.
