The Zeifgeist Chamber Orchestra and Chorus
Leader | Emmanuel Bach
Evangelist | Ben Durrant
Conductor | Sam Poppleton

Join The Zeitgeist Chamber Orchestra and Chorus for a performance of one of Western Art Music's greatest treasures: Bach's St John Passion. The performance is given to raise money for the excellent work of the Oxfam Syria Crisis Appeal.

Founded in 2013 by conductor Sam Poppleton, The Zeitgeist Chamber Orchestra draws young professional players and singers from recent alumni of Oxford, Cambridge and Bristol Universities as well as all the London Conservatoires. ZCO's members can also be seen performing with the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, European and National Youth Orchestras as well as the Southbank Sinfonia.

In the last twelve months ZCO has performed Handel's Messiah in aid of the Holy Cross Centre Trust at St Giles in the Fields, a performance that was praised by countertenor Michael Chance CBE for it's 'virtuosity and thoughtfulness' at the Farley Festival, which the Salisbury Journal described as being 'played with wonderful verve, precision and understanding of the music's shifting moods'; and premiered a new orchestration of James Burton's Convergence of the Twain at the Exon Singers' Festival. Burton's own review was 'They make a beautiful sound and the performance was thrilling' the Plymouth Herald described it as 'the perfect concert.'
