CLOSURES

We know that people travel long distances to visit Ely Cathedral so we try to minimise periods of closure as much as possible. Very occasionally Ely Cathedral may need to close its doors to visitors for a service, event, filming or maintenance or restrict visitors from certain parts of the cathedral. As soon as we know about a closure the information will be posted here.

Please remember to check this page for any last minute changes prior to your visit as some events may have to be arranged at short notice. Contact Ely Cathedral West Door Desk +44 (0)1353 660344 (Mon-Sat 9.30am-4pm) or email gro/lardehtacyle//stisiv

2020

Because of the current COVID-19 prevention measure the Cathedral has ceased to offering public worship for the time being. The clergy will continue the Cathedral's pattern of daily prayer and the celebration of the Eucharist, however this will not be public worship that everyone can attend, but an offering of prayer and praise for the nation and for the world.

In order to protect the health and wellbeing of our staff, volunteers and visitors the shops, Refectory Café, Almonry and Stained Glass Museum are closed. All group visitors, tours and tower tours are currently suspended.

We are delighted to announce that following the recent guidance from the government and Church of England, we have decided that we will be in a position to safely reopen Ely Cathedral for Private Prayer and Reflection from 3 July 2020. Access to the Cathedral will be between 11am and 2pm from Wednesday to Saturday. This specific time structure is to ensure we can carry out appropriate cleaning and sanitation as required. At the moment we are unable to open on Sunday due to the Sunday Eucharist which we hope to livestream via our digital channels. We will also continue to regularly engage with our global audiences and local community through our digital channels on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. Please use the website and social media to stay in touch.
