CATHEDRAL CLOSURES

We know that people travel long distances to visit Ely Cathedral so we try to minimise periods of closure as much as possible. Very occasionally Ely Cathedral may need to close its doors to visitors for a service, event, filming or maintenance or restrict visitors from certain parts of the cathedral. As soon as we know about a closure the information will be posted here.

2019

Please note that on 25 and 26 June there will be restricted access to the Cathedral via the West Door/Galilee Porch due to survey work taking place within the Porch.

Wednesday 26 June 2.30pm - 5pm | The Lady Chapel only will be closed to visitors for a memorial service.

Thursday 27 June 8.30am - 2pm | The Lady Chapel only will be closed to visitors for a school event.

Friday 28 June 1.30pm - 3.30pm | Access to the Cathedral will be restricted due to a school confirmation service. The Stained Glass Museum will remain open and tower tours will be available.

Saturday 29 June 12.30pm - 2.30pm | The Presbytery only will be closed to visitors for a wedding.
4pm - 6.30pm | The Cathedral will be closed to visitors for an ordination service.

Thursday 4 July 10am - Midday | The Cathedral will be closed to visitors for the King's Ely Junior Prizegiving service. The Stained Glass Museum will remain open and tower tours will be available.
1.30pm - 3pm | The Lady Chapel only will be closed to visitors for the King's Ely Acremont Leavers' service.

Friday 5 July 10.30am - Midday | The Cathedral will be closed to visitors for the King's Ely End of Year service. The Stained Glass Museum will remain open and tower tours will be available.

Saturday 6 July | During the day, there may be some restrictions on visitor access due to setting up for a large evening event in the Nave.

Wednesday 10 July | Organ tuning. The Cathedral remains fully open to visitors and all tours take place as usual.

Friday 12 July 1pm - 3pm | The Presbytery only will be closed to visitors for a wedding.

Saturday 13 July 12.30pm - 1.30pm | The Lady Chapel only will be closed to visitors for the Walsingham Cell Mass. Everyone is very welcome to join the service.
1.30pm - 3.30pm | The Presbytery only will be closed to visitors for a wedding.

Saturday 20 July 1pm - 3pm | The Presbytery only will be closed to visitors for a wedding.

Saturday 27 July 1pm - 4pm | The Presbytery only will be closed to visitors for Prayer Day activities.
3.45pm - 4.30pm | The Lady Chapel only will be closed to visitors for Prayer Day activities.
