This is a national project, by the Association of English Cathedrals and the British Pilgrimage Trust to mark '2020 Year of Cathedrals, Year of Pilgrimage,' by providing a pilgrimage route to every Church of England cathedral, taking in established wayfarer paths, other places of faith and lesser known pilgrim ways. These Pilgrimages will also be used to highlight the importance of spiritual, mental and physical well-being. That's why 2020 is Year of Cathedrals, Year of Pilgrimage.

2020 also brings together a remarkable number of individual English cathedral anniversaries and initiatives that help tell Britain's story -past and present - and offer a creative and positive way to look to the future of these magnificent buildings and all that they stand for. Many of our cathedrals are already planning major celebrations - from Canterbury with its Becket anniversary to Coventry with the anniversary of the bombing of its old cathedral while all 42 Cathedral will be hosting special events as well as participating in Cathedrals At Night events.

Ely Cathedral will be acknowledging 2020 Year of Cathedrals by being part of a special Pilgrimage from St. Benet's Abbey to The Abbey of St Edmund in Bury St Edmunds from 18-22 May 2020.

2020: Year of Cathedrals, Year of Pilgrimage prayer

Loving God,
draw us on the journey to the places of holiness,
the places of peace, the places of fellowship,
the places of encounter, the places of beauty,
the places where faith has been lived,
your love made known, your hope held out in the past,
for the present, into your future.
