HOLY WEEK AND EASTER
THE MOST IMPORTANT WEEK OF THE CHRISTIAN YEAR

FROM PALM SUNDAY TO EASTER DAY WE FOLLOW JESUS IN THE LAST WEEK OF HIS LIFE. THIS YEAR WE FOLLOW ST. JOHN'S ACCOUNT OF THE PASSION, ENTERING INTO THE EXPERIENCE AND MEANING OF THOSE EIGHT DAYS - FROM JESUS' TRIUMPHAL ENTRY INTO JERUSALEM, THROUGH THE DESOLATION OF HIS CRUCIFIXION, TO HIS GLORIOUS RESURRECTION

Palm Sunday, 9 April
8:15am - Holy Communion
10:30am - Procession with Palms and Sung Eucharist
assemble on the East Lawn at 10:15am
2:15pm - Sunday Sing! Children and Families Worship
A special service for children and families marking Palm Sunday when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a Donkey. Come and collect your free Palm Cross, hear the story of Palm Sunday and Sing Hosanna to the King of Kings. This informal child-friendly service lasts about 30 minutes.

Maundy Thursday, 13 April
10:30am - Chrism Eucharist with the Blessing of Oils and Renewal of Ordination Vows
5:30pm - Evening Prayer
7:30pm - The Liturgy of Maundy Thursday, Sung Eucharist * and the Washing of Feet
followed by The Watch of the Passion

Good Friday, 14 April
10:15am - Walk of Witness
The Walk of Witness will start from St Mary's Church and includes a dramatised account of Jesus' Passion and a silent procession following the Cross. An Act of Worship in Market Place is followed by a short service in the Cathedral at 11.00am
Midday - Preaching of the Passion *
1.30pm - The Proclamation of the Cross and the Liturgy of the Sacrament *
4:00pm - Children's Worship and Activities
Come and hear the story of Easter and help create an Easter Garden followed by Hot Cross Buns in the Refectory
5:30pm - Evensong

Easter Eve, 15 April
5:30pm - Evensong (Lady Chapel)
8:00pm - Easter Vigil, Baptism, Confirmation and First Eucharist of Easter

Easter Day, 16 April
8:15am - Holy Communion
10:30am - Festal Eucharist
4:00pm - Festal Orchestral Evensong
