TOWER TOURS

Join one of our tower tours, accompanied by one of our specialist tower guides. Your tour will take you into one of Ely Cathedral's two towers: the Octagon Tower is considered a wonder of the medieval world; the taller West Tower offers spectacular views over the city and surrounding countryside.

Evening tower tours and private tower tours can be arranged (additional costs apply) - please see 'private guided tours' section for more information.

Tower Tour charges on Mondays - Saturdays:

Cathedral and tower tour Adults £15; Concessions* £13
Children (aged 10-15) £7
  Cathedral Pass holders £7

* concessions apply for those aged 60+, full time students and unwaged.

Tower Tour charges on Sundays:
£9 per person (Cathedral admission charges do not apply on Sundays)

Please note:

  • There is a limit of 14 places of each tower tour
  • Children must be aged 10 and over to climb the towers
  • A reasonable level of fitness is required - please see our 'safety guidelines' for more information
  • Your ticket gives access to one of the towers, although you can book to visit both towers at an additional cost
  • Tower tours may be cancelled due to adverse weather conditions, and also if major events or services are taking place in the Cathedral.

Tower Tour times (Subject to availability):
Summer, Mondays - Saturdays:
Octagon Tower - 10.30am, 11.45am, 1.15pm, 2.30pm, 3.30pm
West Tower - 11.15am, 2.30pm, 1.45pm, 3pm

Winter, Mondays - Saturdays:
Octagon Tower - 10.30am, 11.45am, 1.15pm, 2.30pm
West Tower (Saturdays only) - 11.15am, 12.30pm, 1.45pm, 3pm

Sundays all year round:
Octagon Tower - 12.30pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm
West Tower - 2pm, 3pm
