Music Tours and Concerts
Let the story of Ely come alive in a private evening tour of the Cathedral accompanied by the music from the Cathedral Choir, or arrange a private concert as part of a reception or exhibition. The programme can be tailored to suit the theme of your conference or event.
Possibly the largest venue in East Anglia, the awe inspiring Nave at Ely took twenty years to build and was completed in 1130. The same length as Ely High Street, it is the fourth longest Nave in any UK Cathedral. The Romanesque archways lead the eye up to the beautiful painted ceiling and towards the world famous Octagon Tower. This unique venue offers both beauty and atmosphere whether you are considering a candlelit dinner, a business reception for 1000 or a conference for 1500, the Nave offers a space unlike any other which will astonish your guests. Capacity: Standing Reception up to 2,000, Dinner up to 800, Theatre style 1,000, (plus 230 in the transepts).
The Cathedral Choir
Ely Cathedral is proud of its music tradition which has been part of its life since its foundation. The Cathedral has a renowned and versatile Choir, offering the exclusive privilege of a private concert or evening Music Tour of the Cathedral or entertainment at a presentation or reception. The Lady Chapel
The largest attached to any English Cathedral, and renowned for its beauty and superb acoustics this richly decorated 14th Century Chapel offers an inspiring venue. It is ideal for a private concert, reception, presentation or exhibition. Very few places in the world can offer you a private space such as this. Capacity: Up to 250 seated, 400 standing.
Combine an evening tour of the Cathedral with supper in the Almonry where hospitality has been offered since medieval times. Today the tradition is continued at this thriving restaurant, where food of the highest quality is served, using fresh local produce. The restaurant is situated within the Cathedral grounds in the Almonry's 12th Century vaulted undercroft. Smaller groups may prefer the privacy and elegance of the Blue Room.
