How your gift can help the Cathedral
Here are some of the areas you can choose:
Care of the ancient fabric - maintaining and conserving the largest surviving medieval monastic site in Europe still in day to day use is a constant concern. A gift to this area helps towards good stewardship of the building so that future generations can continue to be welcomed, inspired and uplifted.
Our glorious music - music has been part of the worship and life of the Cathedral from its earliest foundation. In terms of its monastic heritage, Ely Cathedral Choir can be traced back to the time of King Canute. More recently our Choral tradition has been enhanced with the addition of Ely Cathedral Girls' Choir, the Ely Imps for children, and the voluntary choir of the Ely Cathedral Octagon Singers. Maintaining the very high quality of our year-round music provision is one of our biggest expenses, and a gift in this area helps ensure that music at Ely Cathedral can continue to be enjoyed by a wide audience. Education and outreach - Ely Cathedral welcomes up to 10,000 children every year, and our award-winning Education Programme includes school visits, monastic days, and children and family drop-in sessions during school holidays. As part of our outreach to the wider community, Ely Cathedral Centre provides a much needed space for around 90 community group meetings to take place, including work with vulnerable young people and adults.
Wherever the need is greatest - gifts which are not designated for a specific purpose are especially valuable to the Cathedral as they help us to remain flexible and respond to changing needs. If you do not wish to specify where your donation is to be directed but are happy to allow the Cathedral to respond where the need is greatest, please select this option.
