NOTES FROM ELY - PETER NORTH

First of all we would like to wish you All the Best for 2016! We hope it's a good year for you all wherever you may be and for the Cathedral Choirs and the Society of Ely Choristers. The middle of the festive season seems a good time to tell you what the Society hopes to bring you online in 2016. We are constantly addressing how we communicate with you and are seeking to update our presence on the web.

So in addition to our Facebook presence we will shortly be making the Society's pages on the Cathedral website a little more relevant to the 21st Century and hopefully of interest to us all, bringing you not just information about the Society's events but also in 'Where are they Now?' features about former choristers and musicians, their present lives and occupations and maybe what their time at Ely meant to them. In addition, Keith Dalby, who has been the backbone of the SEC for so many years has a formidable library of pictures and articles which we are going to archive and then make available to members of the SEC in 'From the Archives.' Finally, we are going to be running occasional articles from friends connected to the Cathedral to shed a little light on the lives of choristers past and present and the music and musicians of this great building.

As ever though, this is your society and so we want to hear from you. What things would you like to read about, to hear about? Many 'old chorister' societies up and down the country are dwindling. Thankfully Ely isn't one of them and we want to make sure that with your help we continue to build on the successes of the past preparing for the challenges of the future.

Here's to 2016!
