BE A CHORISTER FOR A DAY

Ely Cathedral's second Be a Chorister day in 2015.
Boys aged 6 to 9 (currently in years 2, 3 and 4) are warmly invited to meet Ely Cathedral's boy choristers, find out what they get up to, and participate in a short service.
Programme for the day
From 9.45 Participants and their parents arrive at King's Ely Junior
10.00 Welcome and video presentation with brief opportunity for any initial questions / observations
10.20 Workshop 1 for participants and choristers led by Peter North (Head of Singing at King's Ely). Parents to observe.
10:50 Mock Voice Trial: A presentation by Paul Trepte (Director of Music, Ely Cathedral), with Choristers. Parents to observe.
11.10 Workshop 2 for participants and choristers led by Paul Trepte (learning some simple music to be sung later in the afternoon). Parents to observe
11:45 Walk to the Monastic Barn for Lunch (provided for participants, parents and Choristers)
12:00 Lunch in the Monastic Barn
12:45 Tour of Choir House for participants and parents
13:30 All Boys: assemble in Song School. The boys will look around the Cathedral, "testing the acoustics" in various locations, and briefly rehearse for the service.
Parents: Presentation by Neil Porter-Thaw (Choir Housemaster and Director Music King's Ely Junior: "The life of a Chorister", to include Q&A session in Choir House.
14:15 Informal Harvest Service in the Presbytery sung by the Choristers and participants.
c14:45 Service finishes. Photos and presentation of certificates to participants.
