ELY CATHEDRAL BUSINESS GROUPS 'CELEBRATION OF BUSINESS' EVENT RAISES MONEY FOR THE ELY FOOD-BANK

31 July 2014

Generous donors at Ely Cathedral Business Group's 'Celebration of Business' have given £1,200 to the Ely Food-Bank. The check was presented by Mark Bonney, Dean of Ely and Coralie Green (ECBG) to Alan Williams and Cathy Wright from Ely Food-Bank. Alan Williams, who has coordinated the development of the 5 foodbanks within the Ely Foodbank partnership, said 'The mission of the Ely Foodbank partnership is to make crisis food equally accessible to all in need within a 15 mile radius of Ely. That's why we have developed foodbanks in Soham, Littleport, Chatteris and March, but we have further work to be done in order to fulfil this mission. The generous donation from members of the Cathedral's Business Group will help with the continued development of the service, not least with the introduction of a Foodbank in Sutton - which we intend to open in the autumn. We are very grateful for the donation from ECBG, and for the great support that we are continuing to receive from local people.

We still have a plea for further help in the shape of storage and office space (ideally, close to the centre of Ely), if anyone locally can potentially help with this please contact ku/gro/knabdoofyle//ofni '
